2015: The Year of 100 Mad Scientists (Er, In Film)

So here it is, my tentative list of mad science movie titles for the year.

Reintroduction

Okay - so it's not January first as such, but it's January firstish, and I figure being late on a New Year's resolution isn't as bad as just utterly disregarding one.  So I'm calling today the day, and starting to blog in earnest.

Since I've used this space for various purposes over time, I should reintroduce myself, I figure, and let you know what I intend to post:

About Me:

I'm Dee Flynn Dotter (dfdotter most places online), local gadabout, painter/collage artist and unabashed mad science fetishist.  My art mixes paint and collage and (very often, at least) sexual and medical topics.

I've always had a thing for the "mad scientist" trope.  There are reasons for this which I'll probably decline to go into unless I've known you for a very long time, or at least am sleeping with you, but the outcome is that I'm a dyed-in-the-wool fetishist when it comes to bubbling test tubes, hard medical examination tables, torn paper sheets, latex gloves....you get the picture.  One day I'll find someone who can do a proper mad scientist impression and then I'll, well, frankly, probably get married.  In the meanwhile, I do art.

I'm always of two minds when artistic output and an artist's sex life blatantly overlap.  On the one hand, it's potentially interesting as hell, chock-full of opportunities to get some real insight into what lies behind the art process and its results.  On the other, there's John Ringo's early work.  But I've been doing some serious thinking about where "Dee's art" ends and "Dee the person" begins, and I feel like talking pretty bluntly about my kinks is relevant enough to what I produce that I'm not just splooshing on your blog feed (to use the technical term). So  things might get a little blue here, and by default let's just assume that nothing here is safe for work or kids or whatever, so we can get that out of the way.

About This Blog (My Intentions, at Least):

1) This is primarily an art blog.  Toward this end, I'm going to archive some of my older works (I'll freely admit I haven't been good about documenting my work, and that's another reason I'm trying to get myself to post regularly.)  And I'll also be supplying...
2) ...Regular updates on what I'm working on.  I tried to handwave this in the past by saying that so many projects end up radically different from what I originally intended that there's no point.  But I think that's actually the more interesting outcome. It's also a good way to document sources.
3) Sex and mad science, in no particular order.  As I said, this blog is most emphatically not a work- or kid-safe place, despite the fact that I'll be...
4) ...Writing about (mostly Japanese) miniatures and toys - you know, Re-ment, Nendoroid, various gachapon, that kind of thing.  It would be an awesome accomplishment (yet one that - I'll be honest - I don't see happening any time soon) to have my collection documented.
5) Of course, given that I am constantly on the hunt for new and awesome things for said collection, and the frankly large amount of just plain neat stuff I run across in the vintage books and magazines I use to make art, I'm going to post pictures of the most interesting stuff I run across while collection/supplies hunting on an irregular basis.
6) And when I can't think of anything else to post about, I'm going to blab about the results of my other New Year's resolution: watch 100 mad scientist movies and write about them here.  I'll put up a post on this soon with the tentative list.  Actually, I've got notes on a few entries already, so you'll see something on this quite soon.

So, yes, it's my blog.  Welcome to it.
